I really enjoyed this movie. It looks to be the favorite for Best Picture at the Oscar.
To tell you the truth, however, I haven't been "blown away" per se by any of the movies nominated this year. Some very good performances but nothing that really connected with me emotionally. I haven't seen Frost/Nixon yet, but I have seen all the others. I am glad that Milk got the attention it deserved after being snubbed at the Globes!
Same here it was brilliant. Rory urged me to go see it...what a flick...i loved it. 'Frost/Nixon' was mesmerizing..catch it R... never would i think Langella could pull off Nixon but he does! 'Milk' is awesome..Brolin and Penn --he gave such a moving speech when he won last night at the Screen Actor's Guild awards... I want Winslet to win--she was unreal in 'Reservation Road'--but got the nom for 'The Reader'...uhmm..and Philip Seymour Hoffman is terrific in 'Doubt'.
I want Kate to win as well. She so deserves it! Plus I think her acceptance speech would be great! Haha. I really enjoyed Doubt as well. Some brilliant writing, which is always what I enjoy!
I do really think that the Dark Knight got shafted here, though. There were more themes and subtexts in play in that movie that you almost forgot it was a comic book film!
Ahhh the Dark Knight so true.... I must agree about the stodgy Oscars... although i do remember that a member of your family was in an Oscar Winning film just last year R....some would say he commanded the screen...time for you to write your screenplay....R goes to Hollywood..can't wait for the after party...with an 80's retro palette.

Every day I live I am more convinced that the waste of life lies inthe love we have not given, the powers we have not used, the selfish prudence that will risk nothing and which, shirking pain, misses happiness as well.--Mary Cholmondeley

The Academy is way too stuffy sometimes!
